About

GraphDB is an exchange and archive system for graphs. The system allows users to dynamically create metadata, graphs and graph groups. These items can then be associated with each other. The database can be queried and the resulting graphs are downloadable.

History

In the field of graph/network algorithms there is an increasing interest to not only share research results but also to exchange the underlying graph/network data. It becomes more and more important to preserve and provide both data and results in order to aid researchers in understanding and improving their findings.
In general it is difficult and time-consuming to acquire appropriate amounts of data for a certain field of research. However this is desireable since a large number of data sets leads to improved results.
In order to evaluate the versatility of an algorithmic approach it is advantageous to test its applicability to data from foreign fields of research. Obtaining such data often constitutes an obstacle due to little interdisciplinary cooperations.
All this leads to the decision to develop GraphDB.
The development was initiated by the research group headed by Michael Kaufmann at Universität Tübingen. The ongoing development is done in cooperation between the research group headed by Dorothea Wagner at Universität Karlsruhe (TH) and the research group headed by Michael Kaufmann at Universität Tübingen.
